PostSubject: 2011 Draft Board - Top 20 Prospects   Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:58 pm

1. Tackle - Keron Block – Tackle – 88
Seriously, how can a tackle with the last name of Block not be destined for NFL greatness? He has great speed for a tackle and is very strong. At 6’-8” and 306 lbs. he will be a wall that can get in front of quick ends and over power strong ones.

2. Papis Auber - Tackle - 86
Have the second pick and worried about getting a tackle? Is Block not big enough for you? Look no further than Papis Auber, this giant stands a 6’-9” and is a massive 349 lbs. He is a lot slower than Block, but he has equal strength and great potential.

3. Curtis Gambol – Defensive End - 88
If you arch rival drafted Block or Auber or you need a DE, you will want to run to the podium to draft Curtis Gambol. He can out run many running backs in the league and has great size at 6’-4” 262 lbs. He is the strongest lineman in the world, but he very versatile and could play some OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

4. Dermonti Blount - Safety – 87
Didn’t get a safety in last year’s draft? You may want to jump on one early this year (this class is not as deep). Blount is a good all around safety with great speed. At 6’-2” and 226 lbs. he will make it difficult for QBs to throw over and around him.

5. Jason Clark – Defensive Tackle - 86
Jason Clark is a big bad man. He will crash the other tams offensive line and make it difficult for the running back to get any inside runs going. He is 6’-4”, 329 lbs and very, very strong. He has great speed for his position and size and will make someone very happy come season 3.

6. Tyler Dougherty – Quarterback – 85
Is your Quarterback’s last name You? If so you may need to look at Dougherty in this year’s draft. He is not as mobile as last year’s top signal caller Jamarcus Austin, but he does have great arm strength and size. At 6’-5” he will have no problem seeing the whole field.

7. Emmanuel Oguchukwu – Safety – 85
Here is another good in this draft. Oguchukwu is not as fast as Blount, but he has a cooler last name. He does have similar size to Blount at 6’-1” and 207 lbs. Oguchukwu is at home in zone coverage and is a true ball hawk in the secondary.

8. Mohammed Alipate – Cornerback - 81
Alipate is the highest rated rookie corner that we have seen in NFL. He is a little short for the position at 5’-9”, but he makes up for it with blazing speed. He is at his best in man coverage, and has all the makings of a lock down corner. He can hold his own in zone coverage, but he will get destroyed if he tries to press receivers at the line.

9. Mario Moss – Outside Linebacker – 83
If you want a fast outside linebacker and I know most of you do, jump on the Mario Moss train. I expect someone to draft him much higher than #9, so you will have to jump on quick. With his crazy speed he could play corner, but he has linebacker size at 6’-3” and 237 lbs. He already has my vote for DROY!

10. Onaje Lewis – Wide Receiver – 83
We have all seen you don’t need great height to be a great wide receiver and Lewis will be another example of that. He is very fast and can go up and get the ball, but his size will have some owners worried. At 5’-10” and 192, I would call him small, but don’t sleep on him. He will be good.

11. Wilson Jordan – Defensive End – 89
Jordan could be the number one player in this draft. The problem is he does not excel at any one thing, but he is good to great at everything you need a DE to do. At 6’-5” he has good height for end . His strength does concern me and I am sure it will have some owners hesitant to draft him.

12. Roddell Lewis – Outside Linebacker - 82
Lewis is another outside linebacker with great size and speed and just a notch down from Moss. He will also find a team that falls in love with him inside of the top 10 and be drafted highly for his speed. It could be a tight race to see who gets DROY after all. Lewis’ biggest knock is his height, at 6’-0” he is short for an OLB and that is what is holding him behind Moss.

13. Michael Lincoln – Wide Receiver - 78
Lincoln is a raw special talent with blazing speed and great size, 6’-3”, 214lbs. Someone will jump on him inside of the top 10 and it may be viewed as a reach based on overall rating. When he gets on the field the pick will be justified. He has good but not great hands and there are concerns that he has maxed out his talent.

14. Andrew Parris - Quarterback – 77
Have an average season and need a quarterback and have a brother who also needs a quarterback in this draft? Andrew Parris should be the answer, the talent takes a dive after him. Parris is very similar to Dougherty and could develop just as well. He has good size at 6’-2” and 240 lbs. and great throwing power. He will look good in blue and red.

15. Kahlil Miller – Defensive Tackle – 78
At 6’-0” Miller is a little short for a professional tackle, but with 348 lbs. on his frame, he is a wide wall that will be hard to get around. He has great speed for a man his size and great strength to boot. He should develop into a great run stopper in the middle of a line.

16. S Andre Taylor – Safety - 83
Taylor will be a good safety in the league. He won’t knock anyone out with his hits, but he may get there before the ball does to pick it off. He has good speed and excels in zone coverage. At 6’-2” he will be another big body for QBs to throw over.

17. Earlzo Kyaunn – Cornerback – 75
Kyaunn has another good last name. He is faster than Alipate and as good in man coverage. Kyaunn is not as good in zone coverage and really, really should not be used in press coverage. He has great size for a corner at 5’-10” and 193 lbs. He will develop and potentially be another shut down corner out of this draft.

18. Tamarick Thomas – Defensive End – 75
Thomas will develop into a nice end in the league. He has great size at 6’-3” and 274 lbs. He has a great combination of speed and power. His speed is really elite for a man his size and will make up for his strength, which is just good. He will give tackles trouble with his speed moves.

19. Sanjay Nash – Tight End – 82
Nash is a great receiving tight with speed, although at 6’-2” and 235lbs, that should be expected and it would be nice to see him move a bit quicker. There are much bigger men in this draft that are as fast as him. He will make a nice weapon though in the passing game, but is a bit of a liability when it comes to run blocking.

20. John Hurley - Guard – 80
What would the top 20 be without some interior lineman. There aren’t many to speak of that will come in and help right away, so if you need one….better draft John Hurely. At 6’-4” and 295 lbs, it would be nice to see a little more speed on him for pulling blocks. But he does very well in pass protection and has great strength at the point of attack.
